About Fraser Dragons

Welcome to the Fraser Dragons dragon boat team. We are the Fraser Dragons dragon boat team — a spirited, mixed crew ranging in age from 24 to 84.

We paddle out of the John M.S. Lecky UBC Boathouse (7277 River Rd, Richmond, B.C., V6X 1X5) on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Each season runs from mid-March to the end of September; we try competing in at least five regattas. Tryouts are held in March and April, and new members are always welcome.

We are proud members of the Dragon Boat BC (Canadian International Dragon Boat Festival Society). For us, dragon boating is more than racing — it’s about fun, fitness, sportsmanship, and the camaraderie of being part of a great team.

The challenge of paddling pushes us beyond our limits, building strength, endurance, and lasting friendships — all while having a great time on the water.

We are friends, team mates, and in so many ways a big family.

3. We support one another in developing skill, knowledge, and experience in dragon boating.
4. We value healthy competition, but never at the expense of enjoyment or team spirit.
5. We strive to improve our abilities—individually and collectively—enhancing both our performance and our overall health.
6. We serve as role models and mentors to new teammates.

7. We act as ambassadors for dragon boating within our team and in the broader paddling community.
